    Our History

    Rotary District 6760 has a rich history rooted in service and leadership across Middle and Western Tennessee. Here’s an overview of its development:

    Early Beginnings

    • Rotary International was founded in 1905 in Chicago by Paul Harris.
    • Clubs began expanding rapidly, and Tennessee saw early adoption of the Rotary movement.

    Formation of District 6760

    • Originally, Tennessee Rotary clubs were part of a larger regional district.
    • Over time, due to growth, the state was split into multiple districts to better serve clubs.
    • District 6760 was officially designated to cover the western and middle regions of Tennessee. This includes cities such as Nashville, Clarksville, Jackson, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Milan, and others.
    • The district is currently part of Zones 30/31, which include multiple states in the central U.S.

    Mission & Focus

    District 6760, like all districts, supports local clubs by:

    • Providing leadership training, especially through PETS (President-Elect Training Seminar).
    • Organizing district-wide service initiatives and grant support.
    • Facilitating participation in Rotary Youth programs, such as RYLA, Rotaract, and Interact.
    • Hosting an annual District Conference to celebrate achievements and build camaraderie.

     Notable Contributions

    Clubs in District 6760 have been deeply involved in:

    • PolioPlus and other global health efforts.
    • Literacy programs, including dictionary projects and early childhood reading.
    • Disaster response, both locally and internationally.
    • Youth leadership development through active Interact and Rotaract clubs.
    • Supporting The Rotary Foundation with strong per-capita giving.

     Current Landscape

    • District 6760 includes 50+ active clubs, with thousands of Rotarians committed to the motto: “Service Above Self.”
    • The district continues to grow through innovation, inclusion, and community engagement.
    • Recent years have seen growth in diversity, digital engagement, and collaborative projects with community partners.

  • Object of Rotary

    The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

    FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

    SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

    THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

    FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
